All the information you need to be prepared for the 2026 WABL trials.

Registrations for our 2026 WABL Trials will open on 1 September 2025

Below you will find the links for registration, along with all additional information about trials, age groups, and eligibility.

Please read this information thoroughly before registering, as registration fees are non-refundable.

 

Eligibility for WABL 2026

To be eligible to participate in trials and be selected in a Willetton Tigers team,
the player must be playing in Willetton Basketball Association’s 2025 Winter Domestic season and be registered and financial for the 2025/2026 Summer Season. Those players registering for U20 Men or U21 Women do not have to meet this requirement.
Eligibility checks are run on ALL players who register for trials. If a player does not meet this requirement, they will not be able to participate.

WABL 2026 Age Groups

The following age groups will compete in the 2025 WABL Competition:

Trials for players who have WABL experience in 2024 and/or 2025

  • For all players who have played WABL in 2024 and/or 2025, and meet the eligibility criteria, trials will be held on the following dates:

 

  • Sundays 19 and 26 October 2025

AS WELL AS EITHER

  • Thursdays 16 and 23 October

OR

  • Fridays 17 and 24 October

Registrations will close at 5.00pm on Tuesday 7 October 2025

Dates and times of trials will be emailed to families by Friday 10 October.

The cost is $65.00 and is non-refundable should you withdraw from trials due to change of mind.

Trials for players born 2006/07/08 or 2015/16/17 who have not played WABL previously

  • For all players who were born in either 2006/07/08 or 2015/16/17 who have not played WABL previously, and meet the eligibility criteria, trials will be held on the below dates.
  • Successful non-WABL players would then be invited to join Trials with WABL players. Further information will be provided about the session times and dates if the player is selected to attend the next phase of trials.

 

  • Sundays 19 and 26 October 2025

Trials for players born 2009-2014 who have not played WABL previously

  • For all players who were born 2009 – 2014 who have not played WABL previously, and meet the eligibility criteria, will be held on Saturday 11 October 2025.
  • Successful players will then be invited to join Trials with WABL players. Further information will be provided about the session times and dates if the player is selected to attend the next phase of trials.

Dates and times of trials will be emailed to families by Friday 10 October.

The cost is $40.00 and is non-refundable should you withdraw from trials due to change of mind.

Where will trials be held?

All trials will be held at Willetton Basketball Stadium.

Trials times and dates will be emailed directly to families from Tuesday 7 October.

Please check each session day/time carefully, as some age groups may have different days & times.

Any changes to times will be communicated by Craig Friday, our Talent & Coaching Manager or Jackie Keepa High-Performance Administrator.

What to Wear and What to Bring to Trials

• A Willetton or Domestic Club Reversible singlet (or a light & dark tee shirt if you do not have a reversible singlet) and black domestic/WABL shorts. Clothing from other Associations is not permitted.
• Suitable basketball shoes/socks.
• The correct size basketball for your son’s/daughter’s age (if they have one).
* U12 Boys & Girls = Size 5.
* U14 Boys & Girls = Size 6.* U16 Girls, U18 Women & U21 Women = Size 6.
* U16 Boys, U18 & U20 Men = Size 7.Please ensure your ball is clearly labelled with their name and your best telephone number
• A filled water bottle (or 2) & your mouthguard (these are compulsory for ALL games & training.

Coach Appointments and Team Selections

The 2026 WABL Coaches team allocation, and the number of teams per age group, are still to be confirmed.

All communication regarding the Trials process & reduction of squads will come from Craig Friday, our Talent & Coaching Manager (TCM). Head Coaches will be included in the correspondence. Feedback will be provided upon request only after Sessions 3 and 4.

Trials squads may be reduced (at the Coach’s discretion) at ANY TIME during the Trials sessions.

Please attend Trials as per the dates above unless Craig Friday communicates a reduction in the squad via email/other means.

Parents Attendance at Trials

Parents are unable to attend the WABL trials sessions. Please drop your child off at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session, and come back and collect them at the conclusion of the session.

After Selections, What’s Next?
