Round 12 Recap

Saturday night saw a great turn out for the Sparks and Puma NBL1 club night, and the crowd really got going with both Tiger teams getting the W!

The women’s team put on a great performance for Sophie Maines’ final game (for now) with the Tigers.

Despite missing Alex Sharp and Imogen Ayliffe, the Tigers got to an early 14 point lead at quarter time.

Outscoring the Suns in every quarter, they maintained a healthy lead throughout the game, and finished with a 48 point victory.

Sam Lubcke had another great game with an efficient 23 points and 7 rebounds in just under 21 minutes.

Desiree Kelley had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block for a solid all round performance.

Tayla Hepburn added 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks to the team’s tally.

Emma Gandini also had a rounded out stat line with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and a massive 7 steals.

Contributions off the bench came from Eva Cooke with 9 points and 2 rebounds, and Sophie Maines with 8 points 3 rebounds and 3 assists in her final game.

The Tiger men followed suit in their game, starting with an early 8 point lead at quarter time, extending this to a big 26 point lead at half time.

The Tigers outscored the suns 29 to 11 in the second quarter, setting themselves up to close the game out in the second half.

They did just that, finishing with a 27 point win over the Eastern Suns.

Oliver Hayes-Brown put up a HUGE 24 points and 24 rebounds, yet another double double for the big man! He also had 3 assists, a block and a steal with an impressive efficiency rating of 38.

He was supported by Hunter Clarke with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists. Travis Fee contributed 15 points, while Damien Scott had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals and a whopping 9 assists.

Tom Gerovich had a solid game off the bench with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

The men’s team were back in the Jungle on Sunday to face the Centre of Excellence in their wildcard game.

The first quarter was largely dominated by the Centre of Excellence, with the Tigers facing a 9 point deficit at quarter time.

In true Tiger fashion, they clawed back in the second quarter, and outscored COE 30 – 21 for the quarter, making scores level at half time.

The see saw scoring continued throughout the third quarter, with the tigers going into 3 quarter time with a 1 point lead.

In the final quarter, the COE shot at a brilliant 72.7% clip from the field, and had a big 16 points from the paint.

Despite the solid 3pt shooting effort from the Tigers, it wasn’t quite enough to get them over the line, going down by 6 points in an entertaining match up.

Damien Scott had a blinder with 32 points shooting at 57% from the field and the 3pt line! He added 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals to his incredible game.

Oliver Hayes-Brown had 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and Travis Fee had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

Both Tiger teams are back next weekend for a double header with a Saturday away game against Mandurah, and Sunday home game against Redbacks where we will celebrate First Nations Round, and Damien Scott’s 300 game milestone.
