The Zambrero Willetton Tigers are thrilled to announce the signing of Melisa Brcaninovic for the upcoming Coles Express NBL1 West season.
24 year old Melisa is a 6 foot 4 power forward from Bosnia who has most recently played for Hozono Global Jairis in the LF Endesa league in Spain, where she has averaged 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds for the 22/23 season to date.
Melisa is a mobile forward, with the strength to post up, and the agility to be a slasher on the wing. She has a crafty scoring ability, and a determination in defence that will really elevate our women’s roster.
In 2022 Melisa played for Lointek Gernika where she contributed an average of 12.6 points and 4 rebounds in 8 games. Previous to that Melisa represented Bosnia in the EuroBasket Qualifiers averaging 10.8 points and 7 rebounds.
In the FIBA U20’s Women’s European Championship Division A in 2017 Melisa averaged 23 points and 3.6 assists per game, almost matching the 24.9 points, 13 rebounds, and 3.4 assists she averaged in the FIBA U18’s Womens European Championship Division B the previous year.
At a young age, Melisa has taken her basketball career all over the world, from Italy and Spain, to Belgium, Turkey, Hungary and Lebanon. The next stop in her basketball journey is Perth, and we are excited to have her join the Zambrero Willetton Tigers.
