A note from WBA Board Chair Cameron Tovey providing some background to the WBA image refresh project recently undertaken, which culminates with this exciting announcement.
The Board and Management of Willetton Basketball Association (WBA) embarked on a journey in 2021 to refresh our image. The timing felt right to inject something new, whilst maintaining that connection to our strong and proud history.
With a working group established, remarkably led by CEO Mark Winnett and Board Member Adam Levin, we engaged TwofromTwo, a creative studio based in Perth with strong basketball roots, to help us navigate what became a really enjoyable and rewarding process.
We made sure to engage our key stakeholders, and took all feedback on board as we eventually landed on our brand proposition (i.e. what we stand for and what we want to be recognised for). The outcome is simple yet ambitious. We celebrate WBA as “A Centre of Positive Impact”.
It is not lost on us that the bar we set is high. We want to be recognised for having the largest, high quality domestic competition, be a home to championship teams, using basketball as an agency for social good, and for being a safe, inclusive and fun-filled community hub.
We want to celebrate an amazing community of staff, volunteers, representative teams, domestic clubs and partners. We recognise and thank everyone involved at WBA for giving your time and energy to making a difference, to making the assist and to making a positive impact on the lives of others and the health of your community.
As far as we see it, this is what makes WBA so special. We used this key thought to drive the creative process to revitalise our brandmarks, uniforms and other assets. We hope you see reflected in the visuals you are about to see, but most importantly we hope this resonates.
We would have loved the opportunity to present the image refresh in person this week, however the health and safety of our community has to take precedence.
As an alternative, we have pulled together a video to introduce our two new brandmarks, one for our Willetton Tigers and one for Willetton Basketball Association, as well as our fresh, new NBL1 uniforms. This is just a snapshot as there is plenty more coming soon including some awesome new merchandise.
